How to install McAfee Small Business Security

If you are an admin, you’ll find McAfee Small Business Security already installed on your Dell computer.

After you activate Small Business Security, you can email an installation link to your employees.

Your employees can also install McAfee Security from the Google Play Store or iOS App Store.

What the admin needs to do

NOTE: Only an admin can send download links, or log in to the MyAccount site. You must create McAfee account to log in.
 

Step 1 — Sign into the McAfee website

1. Go to myaccount.mcafee.com.
2. Click Sign In.
3. ​Do one of the following:
   • If you already have a McAfee account:
     1. Type the email address for your McAfee account.
     2. Type the password for your McAfee account.
     3. Click LOG IN.
   • If you don't have a McAfee account:
     1. Click REGISTER NOW.

     2. Enter your details such as first name, last name, and email address. Assign a strong password for your account.

        TIP: For better security, choose a complex password with both letters and numbers.

     3. Read the McAfee License Agreement and Privacy Policy. Click I AGREE.

After creating your account and signing in as admin, send your employees an installation link via email.
 

Step 2 — Download and Install McAfee Small Business Security

 

Do as follows:

1. Select the McAfee Small Business Security package.
2. Select the device type that you want to protect.
3. Do one of the following:
   • If you want to download the app on your device, click Download. Make a note of the Serial Number or Activation code.
   • As an administrator, if you want to download and install software to another device, click Send Link. Do the following,
     1. Type the email address of the employee you want to send an install link to.
     2. Click Send.
     3. Repeat the process for every customer you want to protect.
4. Run the McAfee's downloaded file, and follow the steps to install the product on your device.

What the employee needs to do

When you get an email from your admin to install McAfee Small Business Security, do as follows: 

1. Open the Welcome email from McAfee, sent by your admin.
2. Make a note of the Serial Number or Activation code.
3. Click one of the following, depending on your device’s operating system:
   • Set up for PC
   • Set up for Mac
   • Download Now
4. Follow the on-screen steps to complete the product installation.

After installation, you can access the McAfee product through:

• The shield icon on the taskbar (PC)
• The dashboard (Mac)
• The home screen on your tablet or mobile device.

Possible activation issues

We found that an older version of McAfee might be installed to your Mac, if the installation .dmg file is in the Downloads folder.

 

But this older version can no longer be activated without the correct Serial Number.

Workaround:
Rename any McAfee Installation  .dmg files in the Downloads folder before you download a new package. This ensures that the latest version gets installed to your Mac. 

To rename the file, change the extension from .dmg to anything else, for example .dm_.
