The free version of True Key (available from truekey.com) allows you to get started with 15 logins. This means that if you want to use more logins, you must first upgrade. But it's no longer possible to buy a standalone True Key subscription.
When you try to upgrade from the True Key browser extension on your PC or Mac, you'll see this message:

You'll need to upgrade to a qualifying McAfee subscription
If you want to upgrade True Key, you must upgrade to a Premium LiveSafe, Total Protection, or McAfee+ subscription.
NOTE: You can continue to use the free version of True Key if you don’t want to upgrade, but you’ll be limited to only 15 logins.
How to upgrade your subscription
Do as follows:
- Go to My Account at myaccount.mcafee.com.
- Sign in with your registered McAfee email address and password.
- Look for messages that prompt you to upgrade to a Premium subscription, which includes Password Manager. Or, select the relevant option under the Subscriptions tile.
NOTE: If you aren't able to upgrade from My Account, go to the McAfee site. You can buy a premium subscription from here.
- When you have a valid subscription that includes the Password Manager, click Downloads & Devices in My Account.
- In the Get Password Manager section, look for an Activation Code.
- Sign in to True Key through the browser on your PC or Mac.
- Click Add new login.
- Click Go Premium. You will see this screen:
- Type the Activation code that you got from step 5 into the True Key premium code field.
- Click Activate.
