You can now sign in to McAfee apps and services with a Google or Microsoft account, as well as your McAfee account:
Sign in fails with newly-created Microsoft accounts
Some customers have reported that after choosing to Continue with Microsoft, they’re able to create a new Microsoft account. But after that, they can't sign in to their McAfee apps and services with the new Microsoft account.
When this occurs, the sign-in fails with the following error message:
We couldn't sign you in with this email and password. Reset your password, or choose a different sign in method.
Sign in with a McAfee or Google account until we fix this issue
We're working to get this issue fixed as soon as we can. If you see this issue, use one of the following options to sign in:
- Sign in with your regular McAfee account if you have one. If you don’t have a McAfee account, click Create one at the end of the sign in page.
- You can also use the Continue with Google option. When you use this option, take note of the following points:
- Sign in with your Google account, if you have one. When you do so, your Google account is linked to your McAfee account if they share the same email address.
- If you don’t have a Google account, you'll see an option to create one. Only use the create account option if you don't already have a McAfee account.
NOTE: If you have an existing McAfee account and you select the create account option, a second McAfee account in your name will be created. It’s not recommended to have two McAfee accounts, because it will make it difficult to manage your McAfee subscriptions.
